Best way to go to previous slide when clicking on left half of slide?

Hey all! I apologize if this is very basic. I just want to know if there is a built in or nifty way to have a setup where clicking the left half goes to the previous slide and clicking the right half advances the slide. What I want to avoid is having a floating transparent link div that takes up the left half of the slide. This seems messy to me. Any ideas? Thanks!
