How to get the slides to show the descriptions that are defined in the images in the media gallery?
Or, is it only by editing the gallery images that one can add a description?
and what is the purpose of the bracketed {{description}}} ? example of how it works?

If you're using "custom" type of slider, it can only grab data from the title and description of a slide (without additional code).

To use media file fields (like title, alt, description), you may override default WordPress [gallery] shortcode

I have something like that in the video, but the title and description are
concatenated, is there a way to insert a new line?

There is no such option unless you use tags there. I'd recommend to use multiple fields if you need multiline captions (for example title and description) and format them via CSS.
